Lifeyo was founded in March of 2010 by Mike Kai. The application was created to provide individuals with an easy way to tell their story on the web. Lifeyo focused on offering a convenient, user friendly experience that did not limit the many ways the user could customize their web pages. The application has received positive comments, including praise by AOL News’ Erez Zuckerman in 2010. Today, many users visit Lifeyo to create original pages for any purpose.
Lifeyo has taken the drag and drop approach to site building, which is becoming a popular choice for many applications. Even though this interface type is far from new, it is extremely appealing to users with little to no programming and design experience. The user can view the page as they build it to make sure that everything looks as they want it (without having to load an extra browser window to see progress).
Lifeyo has plenty of personality without over doing it. The application maintains a clean, organized layout that allows users to easily find their way around the interface. The drag and drop design is one of the best features, allowing users the freedom to create pages quickly and painlessly. The available templates are attractive and practical for many different purposes and industries. Individuals, groups and others can easily design an original website that they are proud to share.
A new user can get started with Lifeyo by clicking the orange “Start Building” button found along the left hand side of the homepage. Next, the user is asked for the type of site they are building (a business, personal, blogging or portfolio site). The user can also choose from the themes listed below the type buttons. After clicking the “Continue” button that appears at the bottom of the page, a pop up box asks the user to provide a name, email address, password and desired Lifeyo URL. The user is automatically logged in after submitting the form.
Lifeyo users are given two subscription options. The first is a free plan (which the user is automatically signed up for when they register). The free plan includes one website, 5 MB file upload maximum, access to the easy website builder, blogging tools, photo galleries and access for multiple editors. A Pro membership costs $8 per month and includes up to 10 websites, 20 MB file maximum uploads, Favicon control and no Lifeyo branding on pages.
Lifeyo is ideal for anyone who wants to build simple website quickly, without any design experience. The application is very easy to use. The two subscription options are very affordable, starting at free. Individuals and freelancers would get the most use out of Lifeyo because the site limits the maximum number of sites for each account. Users can easily choose professional templates, customize them and add content without worrying about any coding.
